Project Details

Site Skills Training has completed an 8-week pilot course in cookery and camp services for the Indonesian company PT Prasmanindo Boga Utama (PBU).

The program was aimed at up-skilling personnel from existing camp service operations across Indonesia, including a number of offshore platforms, the Newmont Batu Hijau Gold Mine in Sumbawa, and coal mining operations in East Kalimantan.

The program highlights Site Skills Training’s capability to deliver industry-relevant training to candidates from non-English speaking backgrounds. The training includes core subjects in commercial cookery and food safety, and also covers soft skills and English communication.

Challenge
PBU aims to ensure excellence in its services, from customer service to quality of food offerings in all its operations. However, they noticed a requirement for staff upskilling, especially in English communication skills and management.
Solution
With a commitment to develop their staff through capacity development programs, PBU approached Site Skills Training in Clark, Philippines.
Site Skills Training developed an 8-week experiential program that included on-the-job training within the Philippine facility. This covered core skills in commercial cookery and food safety, as well as soft skills such as teamwork and English communication.
Outcome
22 students successfully graduated from the course. They are now in Indonesia better serving PBU’s clients, and creating more opportunities for themselves.
Through implementing international standards in the service they offer, PBU has become one of the most trusted onsite camp services company in Indonesia.
