Project Details
Site designed a Heavy Diesel Maintenance Program to upskill PetroSea mechanics to Australian Certificate II standard. The program is in line with Petrosea’s workforce nationalisation project. Site Skills Training partnered with Monark Caterpillar and the Monark Foundation to deliver the training, utilising a full range of heavy diesel training equipment and materials.
Challenge
Petrosea, a leading mining, engineering, construction and offshore-based contractor in Indonesia, has a sizeable heavy vehicle fleet which is managed and serviced by external contractors. With a long lasting commitment to develop their local community, Petrosea wanted to build its own local workforce to manage and service the fleet instead.
Solution
Site worked with Petrosea to develop an intensive course for skilled heavy diesel mechanics. The program covers English skills, soft skills, high level tradecraft and management skills.
Site partnered with Monark Foundation, Inc. to deliver training at the Philippine campus. The partnership has supplied Site Skills Training an access to operational trucks, allowing candidates to learn from real-life applications.
Outcome
30 candidates have completed their on-the-job training, assisting Petrosea in maintaining their heavy vehicle fleet with significant cost reductions.
Training helped improved the ability of the team to work and communicate with foreign colleagues at different work sites.
